  • Access to the hypogeum and arena floor requires special authorization and must be booked well in advance – often several weeks or months ahead.
  • The hypogeum has narrow passageways and uneven surfaces. The tour is not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers, and is not recommended for those with limited mobility.
  • Please provide the full names of all participants exactly as they appear on their passports or government-issued ID cards. Note that name changes are not permitted once the booking is confirmed.
  • All guests (including children) must bring a valid passport or physical ID card on the day of the tour. Security personnel at the Colosseum will deny entry without proper identification, and digital copies/photos are not accepted.
  • Large bags, suitcases and tripods are not allowed in the underground areas.
  • Please arrive at the designated meeting point to meet your guide 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Due to strict entry time slots enforced by the Colosseum administration, late arrivals cannot join the tour, and tickets are non-refundable.

It is also wise to bring a reusable water bottle, which can be refilled for free at Rome’s historic public drinking fountains (nasoni). You can even find the nearest water fountain on Acea website or download the official app. During the sunny summer months, don’t forget to pack sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as shade is limited within the ruins.
